This time last week the Ipswich Hornets Under 12 team took the field for their first game of the Ian Healy Cup carnival. And what a carnival it turned out to be for the young Hornets, who finished the tournament with wins over Darling Downs and Bears Gold. The team caught brilliantly and executed a number of direct hit run outs, a reflection of the work put in throughout the winter academy. Players from Laidley Mulgowie Cricket Club, Northsiders Cricket Club, The Tigers, Strollers Cricket Club and Brothers Ipswich Cricket Club came together as one, proudly wearing the Hornets colours with coaches Michael Hillier and Damien Wilson. Healy Cup individual awards were presented to Sam Hillier (hat trick v Brisbane North) and Caelan Ashton-Quinn (50 v Gold Coast). Congratulations to the entire squad, coaches and parents for a brilliant week on and off the field!
