A massive effort from our second-grade ladies who came away with back-to-back T20 wins last weekend.
The first match saw the girls take on the Sunshine Coast where they set 2 for 179 runs on the back of some excellent batting from:
Hannah Freiberg: 77* from 48 balls (10 fours, 2 sixes).
Felicity Koch: 36 from 36 balls (4 fours, 2 sixes).
Emma Jones: 24*from 22 (4 fours).
A strong T20 total, the girls defended this by 68 runs to win convincingly, with the help of wickets from Namreet Kingra and Emma Jones.
The Second match-up saw the Ladies take on a strong Western Suburbs team, who set a commanding 1-150 from their 20 overs. This would take some chasing but some smart batting from captain Hannah Freiberg once again put them in the box seat. Needing 10 runs from the final over to win was a challenge and with wickets taken throughout it looked out of reach, until a 6 from Lucy Neumann got us back in the game. This was when Varneet Kingra came to the crease without facing a ball to clinch a single for victory.
Two great wins away from home for our Second Grade Ladies. Well done to the girls and good luck for what's to come throughout the season.
