Congratulations Hornets fast bowler Charlie Lachmund.

A quartet of maroon-grown teens will take a sizable step next month when they represent the Australian Under-19 squad against their touring Indian counterparts in Brisbane.

Sandgate-Redcliffe batter Steven Hogan, Valley batter Jayden Draper and pace bowlers Charlie Lachmund (Ipswich) and Ben Gordon (Sunshine Coast) were included today in a squad to play India in Brisbane and Mackay.

The tour will see Hogan pick up the threads of his previous U19 series against India, which saw him score a century in India last season.

India clean swept Australia in both the one-day and four-day series at home in September-October last year.

Draper, named in the Team of the Tournament following the National Under-19 championships last season, comes into the squad for the first time alongside pace bowlers Lachmund and Gordon.

The young right-arm quicks both made first grade debuts for their clubs in the KFC Queensland Premier Cricket last summer, with each representing Queensland at youth level.

They were also Queensland Under-17 representatives in 2023-24 and Toowoomba Grammar product Lachmund was in the U-19 maroon team last summer while Gordon was sidelined due to injury.

Draper’s selection continues a family history in elite sport, with his father Scott enjoying professional sporting careers in tennis and golf.

The 17-member Indian side includes 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who had lit up IPL 2025 with his power-packed batting earlier in the year.
