Emerging stars shine on junior grand final day

Cricket Ipswich (CI) wish to congratulate all players, coaches, volunteers and umpires on a successful grand final day.

Six grand finals were held at the Ivor Marsden complex and Grammar Park, as some of Ipswich’s best male and female juniors took the field in highly competitive matches on March 16.

The premiership spoils were shared between five clubs – Northsiders, Centrals, Fassifern, Strollers and Brothers.

Northsiders lifted two trophies on the day, with the Level 3 and 2A teams victorious against the Thunderdogs and Brothers respectively.

Northsiders also claimed the prestigious Junior Club Championship after a successful season across the junior grades.

Junior subcommittee co-ordinator Ben Abraham acknowledged the efforts of all clubs.

“We’re extremely fortunate to have some great people involved with all of our clubs who make my job a lot easier,” Abraham said.

“Thank you as well to all of the coaches and parents for your contribution, as well as the Cricket Ipswich board for its support.”

Following the completion of the Level 3 and 2A grand finals, all teams gathered for the end of season presentations.

Northsiders captains came forward to lift both the Level 3 and 2A shields after highly competitive grand finals.

In the Level 3 match, Northsiders posted 7-218 with Mason Cumming (64), Quinn Davidson (36) and Joshua Williams (28) leading the charge.

Thunderdogs posted 183 in reply, with Cumming the pick of the bowlers with 3-27 from his eight overs.

The 2A final was in the balance until a sixth wicket partnership between Max Hillier (20no) and Liam Pollard (17no) steered Northsiders to victory over Brothers.

Brothers had earlier posted 165 with Mohnish Haricaran top scoring with 36. Adam Langmack was the pick of the Tigers’ bowlers with 2/14.
